Driving to a Farmhouse Near Hyderabad: Routes, Timing and Parking
· 5 min read· by Farmhouses Hyderabad Team

Which farmhouse area is closest to your side of the city, when to leave to beat traffic, what the last kilometre looks like, and how to plan a safe drive home.
Most farmhouses near Hyderabad sit just outside the ORR, which means the drive is usually 30 to 60 minutes from the city, but which 30 to 60 minutes depends heavily on where you start. Picking a farmhouse on your side of the city, leaving at the right time and knowing what the last stretch looks like will make the getaway feel like a getaway rather than a traffic jam.
Match the farmhouse area to where you live
Hyderabad's farmhouse belts fan out in every direction along the main highways. Crossing the whole city to reach a farmhouse on the opposite side can easily double your travel time. Use this as a starting point:
| If you start from | Look at | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| Gachibowli, Kokapet, Financial District | Moinabad, Shankarpally, Chevella | About 30–45 min to Moinabad; 40–50 min to Shankarpally; 50–60 min to Chevella |
| Secunderabad, Kompally | Shamirpet, Medchal | About 30–45 min |
| Kukatpally, Miyapur, BHEL | Patancheru, Medchal | Patancheru is closest, at the ORR on the Mumbai highway |
| Uppal, ECIL, Habsiguda | Keesara, Ghatkesar | About 30–45 min |
| LB Nagar, Dilsukhnagar | Ibrahimpatnam, Pedda Amberpet | Pedda Amberpet is one of the closest; Ibrahimpatnam about 40–50 min |
| Airport side, south Hyderabad | Shamshabad, Maheshwaram | Shamshabad is 30–40 min from Gachibowli |

When to leave
Weekend mornings
Saturday and Sunday mornings are usually the easiest time to get out of the city. If your day slot starts in the morning, leaving early means you arrive before the heat and get a full day at the pool.
Friday evenings
Leaving for a night stay straight after work on a Friday means joining office traffic heading home. If you can, start after the evening rush or plan to reach a little later and confirm check-in timing with the caretaker.
Festivals and long weekends
Highways leading out of the city get busy around festivals, as many people head to their hometowns. Build in extra time and keep the caretaker informed if you are delayed.
Coming back
Sunday evening return traffic towards the city can be heavy, especially on the main highways. Leaving a little earlier, or staying the night and returning on Monday morning if your schedule allows, often makes the drive calmer.
The last kilometre
The highway part is easy. The final stretch is where people get lost or stuck:
- Use the location pin, not the area name. Moinabad alone covers many villages and orchards. Ask the host for the exact pin before you leave.
- Expect village roads. The last stretch may be a narrow lane, an unpaved track or a road through farmland. Drive slowly and watch for speed breakers, cattle and two-wheelers.
- Download maps offline. Mobile signal can drop near some farmhouses, particularly further out in Chevella or Kadthal.
- Call the caretaker when you are close. They can guide you through the final turns and open the gate.
- Low cars and monsoon. After heavy rain, unpaved lanes can be muddy. Ask the host about road conditions if you are booking during the monsoon.
Parking at the farmhouse
Many farmhouses have parking inside the gate, but space varies a lot. A group of thirty arriving in ten cars is a very different problem from two families in two cars. Before booking:
- Tell the host how many vehicles you are bringing.
- Ask whether there is space inside the compound or whether some cars must park outside.
- If you are hiring a tempo traveller or bus for a large group, confirm that it can reach the gate and turn around.
Large groups should also look at farmhouses for large groups, which tend to have more room.
A simple pre-drive checklist
Run through this the evening before, especially if you are driving a car full of family:
- Fuel up in the city; petrol pumps get sparser on some village roads.
- Check tyre pressure and carry a working spare and jack.
- Keep drinking water, snacks and a phone charger in the car.
- Share the location pin and the caretaker's number in the group chat so every car has it.
- Agree a meeting point on the highway if several cars are travelling, so nobody arrives alone at a gate in an unfamiliar village.
- For children, carry motion-sickness tablets and a bag of games for the drive.
Combining the drive with a stop on the way
Part of the fun of a farmhouse trip is the drive itself. Groups heading to Moinabad sometimes stop at Chilkur Balaji temple, which lies on the way. Those going to Keesara can visit Keesaragutta temple, and families heading north to Shamirpet can combine the trip with Jawahar Deer Park. If you plan a stop, factor it into your arrival time and let the caretaker know.
Carpooling and hired transport
Fewer cars mean less parking stress and fewer drivers who need to stay sober. For office outings, a hired bus from a single pickup point is often the simplest option. For friend groups, two or three well-filled cars beat eight half-empty ones. Agree the pickup order the night before.
The drive home is part of the plan
This is the one rule that matters most: whoever drives does not drink. Rural roads are dark, highways are fast, and everyone is tired after a day in the sun. If your group wants to celebrate, choose a farmhouse for a night stay and drive back after breakfast. Our farmhouse safety tips cover the rest.
