Extra Charges to Check Before Booking a Farmhouse
· 5 min read· by Farmhouses Hyderabad Team

Extra guests, cooking, decoration, late checkout — these charges can surprise you. Here's when each one shows up and how to confirm it before booking.
Most surprise costs at a farmhouse aren't hidden — they just weren't asked about. Before booking a farmhouse near Hyderabad, check for extra charges on extra guests, cooking and kitchen use, decorations, late check-out, electricity, events and the security deposit. Each farmhouse sets its own terms, so a five-minute conversation with the host saves real money and stress.
This guide follows your booking from start to finish and flags the moments when an extra charge can appear. At the end, there's a ready-made WhatsApp message you can copy and send.
Stage 1: When you book
The first set of charges relates to the booking itself. Look for:
- Date-based pricing. The same farmhouse can cost more on a Saturday, a festival or a long weekend. This isn't an extra charge, but it surprises people who saw a weekday price earlier. Always check the live price for your exact date.
- Security deposit. Some farmhouses take a refundable deposit, either at booking or at check-in. Ask how much, how it's paid and when it comes back. Our explainer on farmhouse security deposits covers this in detail.
- Guest count pricing. The rent covers a stated number of guests. If your group may grow, ask now what each extra person costs — and whether extras are allowed at all.
- Cancellation terms. Not a charge you plan to pay, but one you might. Each farmhouse sets its own cancellation policy, shown on its page, and it decides how much comes back if your plans change. A booking request on its own is free and doesn't reserve the farmhouse — our cancellation policy page explains the difference.
Stage 2: On arrival
Charges at check-in usually relate to setup or what you've brought with you.
Decorations
Balloons, banners, lights and backdrops are common for birthdays and anniversaries. Some farmhouses offer a decoration package at extra cost. Others allow you to decorate yourself but ask you not to use tape on painted walls or confetti near the pool. A few may charge for cleanup afterwards. Confirm before you buy anything. Early check-in
Want to arrive a couple of hours early to set up? That may be possible, but it may also be charged, especially if a previous group checked out that morning.
Extra vehicles or a DJ setup
Parking space is usually included, but bringing a hired sound system, a generator or a large vendor team might need prior approval.
Stage 3: During your stay
This is where most groups rack up add-ons without noticing.
| Possible charge | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Kitchen use / gas | Is the kitchen free to use? Is gas included or charged? |
| Cook or helper | Can you arrange a cook? What's the charge, and who buys groceries? |
| BBQ | Is the grill included? Is charcoal provided or extra? |
| Bonfire | Is a bonfire allowed? Is wood provided or charged? |
| AC and electricity | Any limit or extra charge for long AC use? |
| Generator / power backup | Does backup cover the whole house? Is diesel extra during outages? |
| Games and equipment | Are box cricket, carrom or pool floats included? |
None of these are unreasonable — a cook's time and a bag of charcoal cost money. The issue is only when you discover them on the day.
Stage 4: At check-out
The final set of charges arrives as you're packing up, which is exactly when nobody wants an argument.
- Late check-out. Staying beyond the agreed time is often charged by the hour, if allowed at all.
- Cleaning. Normal cleaning is usually part of the rent. Heavy mess — food all over the lawn, decorations stuck everywhere, a party-trashed pool area — may lead to a cleaning charge.
- Damages and breakages. Broken glasses, damaged furniture or pool equipment are typically recovered from the deposit.
- Noise or rule violations. Some farmhouses have penalties for breaking music timings or bringing in more guests than declared. Music rules and timings vary by farmhouse — read them in advance.
A short walkaround with the caretaker before you leave, with photos, settles most of these fairly.
A WhatsApp message you can copy
Send this to the host or to our booking team before you pay. Edit the details to suit your plan.
Hi, we're planning to book [farmhouse name] on [date] for [number] guests, [day use / night stay]. Before we confirm, could you please tell us: (1) exact check-in and check-out times, (2) charge for extra guests, if allowed, (3) whether kitchen, gas and BBQ are included, (4) whether a cook can be arranged and the cost, (5) rules and charges for decorations, (6) the security deposit amount and refund timing, (7) music timings and any other house rules we should know. Thanks!
Keep the reply in the chat. If anything changes later, you'll have it in writing.
Red flags to watch for
Most hosts are upfront. Still, be careful if:
- Someone asks you to pay the full amount to a personal account without any booking confirmation
- The rules and charges keep changing between messages
- Nobody will tell you the deposit or refund terms in writing

Frequently asked questions
Do farmhouses in Hyderabad charge extra for more guests?
Many do, if extra guests are allowed at all. The rent covers a set capacity shown on the farmhouse page, and anything above that is up to the host's rules.
Is cleaning included in farmhouse rent?
Normal cleaning is usually included. Some farmhouses may charge extra if the property is left very messy, for example after heavy decorations or a large party.
Can I check out late from a farmhouse?
Sometimes, if no other group is arriving, but late check-out is often charged. Ask the host in advance rather than on the day.
Are decorations allowed at farmhouses?
Most farmhouses allow some decorations, but rules differ on tape, confetti, candles and cleanup. Some offer paid decoration packages. Confirm before you buy materials.
